Fluval Edge 23 Litre Aquarium.
LED Lighting Upgrade.
A new LED lighting package which has now been released by The LED Shop UK will be of interest to those Aquarists who have the Fluval Edge 23 litre Orange/Black/Pewter aquarium and who wish to improve on the current lighting set up which consists of two 10 Watt halogen MR11 bulbs.
This arrangement, for illumination purposes relies solely on the narrow beam angle of the halogen spotlights and as a result, the light is concentrated on two very specific areas within the centre of the tank.
The upgrade kit – available from The LED Shop UK – consists of two 1 Watt high power Cree LED bulbs (available in Cool White or Warm White).
Supplementing these retro-fit bulbs are two quality 1.65 Watt 15 cm Light Bars. Fabricated in Aluminium and each containing six PLCC 50-50 high quality LEDs, each Bar giving out a luminous flux of 110 lumen.
The Light Bars are fed by a 240VAC in / 24VDC out plug in Driver which is included in the kit along with all the necessary leads, connectors and in-line switch. 
The upgrade kit is very simple to install with error free connections and comes with a full set of instructions.
The beam angle of the Light Bars at 110° affords a more even spread of light throughout the tank whilst the 1 Watt LEDs highlight the central area.
Another major advantage of this upgrade to LED lighting is the superior Colour Rendering Index (C.R.I.). This gives a much more natural and ‘sharper’ appearance to the Aquarium. 
There is very little heat generated by the LED set-up, the halogens by comparison run extremely hot.
The total luminous flux from Cree (cool white) LED Bulbs and Light Bars is 460 lumen.
This equates to having 40 – 50 Watts of halogen light in the tank.
Two and a half times that which is put out by the halogen bulbs!
The running costs of the Upgrade Kit are minuscule, costing an incredibly low 3.7p per day when run for 8 hours! That works out at only £1.34 per year!
The lifespan of the LEDs is 35,000+ hours. Approximately 30 times longer than the halogens! 
This is a high quality LED package which will provide years of pleasure to the serious Aquarist who wishes to enhance this very stylish and aesthetically pleasing Tank. It is suitable for Tropical and Marine/Reef set-ups.
As we all know reducing our carbon footprint is essential for the future of our planet and when one considers energy saving lighting solutions, LEDs are the way forward. This LED package uses almost one fifth of the energy required to power the halogen bulbs and at the same time produces a much greater luminous flux and a far superior light quality with no harmful UV or IR.
This LED Lighting arrangement is superb for marine setups with excellent light penetration.
